The Advanced tab holds settings most merchants set once, or only need in specific cases: manual returns, order lookup, marketplace selling, QA grading, export references and EU compliance.
Open the tab
Go to Configuration in your dashboard, choose your returns portal, then select Advanced in the sidebar.
Saving your changes
Every field can be edited straight away. When you change something, Save and Cancel appear at the top of the page. Click Save to apply your changes, or Cancel to discard them.
1. Additional options
Manual order import
Normally, a customer’s orders are matched to them automatically by email address. With this switched on, customers can also look up an order by its order number and add it to their account. This helps when an order’s email address has been masked or scrambled, for example by a marketplace, so it can’t be matched automatically.
Manual returns
Lets customers create a return that isn’t linked to an order. It’s a label-only return: the customer is asked only how many items they’re sending, the reason for the return, and which carrier service to use. Use it as a fallback when a customer can’t find their order, or is returning a gift or something bought for someone else.
Rename manual reference field
This appears only while manual returns are switched on. It sets the label for the reference customers enter when they create a manual return. The default is “Order number”. Use something your customers will recognise, up to 20 characters.
Use marketplace copy
Switches your portal to marketplace-safe wording and hides the return cost on the summary screen. Turn this on if the portal serves orders from a marketplace such as ASOS.
QA type
Chooses how your team grades returned items during quality checks:
Pass / Fail
Grade A / B / C or Fail
Changing this only affects items graded from then on. Items already graded keep their result.
Merchant reference
A reference that identifies this merchant in returns exports, for example “ABC-123”. If you have access to more than one merchant, it lets you tell their returns apart in an export requested from your dashboard.
2. EU right of withdrawal
If you sell to customers in the EU, paste the link to your withdrawal page into EU withdrawal URL. A “Withdraw from contract here” button then appears in your returns portal. If you leave the field blank, no button is shown.
For what the page needs to include to be compliant, see EU right of withdrawal: adding a withdrawal link to your returns portal.
